Hello all. My name is Jacob Hockenberry and I very recently started my own computer repair business. First of all, thank you Bryce Whitty for creating this awesome website! It has been of great value to me in starting my business.
I am 20 years old and am currently working towards my bachelors degree in Computer Science. I have been tinkering with computers since my early high school years and have worked for one computer repair company for about a year and a half. Although I may lack experience, I am a quick learner and I'm completely confident in my abilities as a computer tech. I live in Bozeman, Montana. I joined this forum for feedback on my website, logo, and other business related stuff. I look forward to receiving all of your knowledge and ideas! And as i learn, I hope i can be of assistance to you guys as well. |

Welcome to site.
If you spend some time looking back through the forums Bryce has so kindly laid out, you will find much accumulated wisdom about running a computer business. I joined recently an found some interesting threads about toolkits, both hardware and software for instance. And whatever your level of technical competance, no one knows everything so don't be afraid to ask, but do give plenty of meaty detail abou a problem. Don't forget that running a computer business is not just about the repair part. There is all the admin work, obtaining the work, advertising, finding spares suppliers, deciding upon a charging strategy etc. You will find lots of discussion and advice here as there are many successful approaches. Good luck in the future.

It's true. I've found that obtaining business and a professional image is much more challenging than any of the actual computer repairs I've received so far. Trust does not come easy! Thank you for the advice. |
