We found out the hard way, had a real estate agent who rented us store space, she is basically a slum lord she did not pay for any repairs we were doing the common area cleaning and general maintenance.
Not only after our lease was expired tried to double our rent she then evicted us before 30 days are up and now she is suing us for money for common area cleaning for 5 years we did not even get paid for most of it. When renting a space check on your landlord and find out about them, keep a copy of your lease in a safe place, the strange thing is she personally went after the one of the owners i own other half even though we were incorporated the judge did not care about that fact. Seems in canada incorporation is not worth the paper it's written on. Btw we found out she sues everyone that leaves her building for costs not on the lease. |

I've heard of the horror stories of commercial leasing. I'm in Ontario and there isn't any kind of rent control for commercial properties. I thought it was bad enough for residential leases.
