Exclamation Smart Fortress 2012

Don't know if any one has seen this one yet, i searched the forum and didnt get any results. Just your traditional "scareware" installed by a trojan. Makes the user belive they have all kinds of viruses whenever its the virus. Here is a link to screen shots on the malwarebytes forum. Other things it did was disable all of the microsoft security features and automatic updates, redirected you from websites like bleepingcomputer, makes it to where you cant open up my computer, has constant pop ups telling you your computer is infested with viruses, changes shortcuts, this computer it disabled mcaffe, etc... Luckily it was nothing a round of D7 couldnt handle. Got it fixed it pretty quick.

The Google site search feature is included in the search facility of the forum. Just select the lower box of the two

Thats probably when she got it, it was actually a co-worker who came up and said "I havent used my laptop for a couple of months because it has a virus on it, I tried to run Avast! in safe mode but that didnt work, now I am starting online classes and really need it!!!" So thats probably when she got it.

On another note I thought running through D7 fixed it but nope, got rid of smart fortress but seems like the trojan is still there have to finish it up tonight.

You'll have to boot from a CD, or mount the drive externally to a bootable machine...and fix the MBR....it will be living there. Else...you'll go in circles trying to clean it out directly from the booted machine...each reboot will re-infect it from the hidden part in the MBR.
