I have been going back and forth with a local church in my area. The current IT guy there "retired chemist...." promises me that the 5 couplers he used to span a 340foot run across the church causes no problems at all! Has nothing to do with their network only having roughly 70% up-time.

O ya, his son works for charter so he knows the way it is setup is correct.

Yeah..... that extra 12 feet is so that it can ... um .... do something ... better ... cause ... yeah.

That's exactly why business calls are time and materials. As to that patch panel I ve seen much worse rat's nests. I'll gladly sort them out assuming the y want to pay for the time.

yup. Always.

as for the drac, I ran into the virtual media issue on a PE1950 just last week.
Prior tech company used it extensively as they had their own support server on site. When they pulled out they left a mess of things.
One ongoing problem with the server was that it would randomly not come back after a reboot. Cycling the power would fix the issue.
Turns out it was another "known issue" with the virtual media being enabled on the drac. There was also a firmware update available that addressed the problem.

I had no problem with that firmware update at all.
