Aw those were the days, Lisa!
I remember back when I used to run computer bulletin boards. Hayes commands, cd's of freeware, 16k/s downloads, then 32, then blisteringly fast 56k modems!!!! WOOHOO!! My telephone bill was always a fright because of all the phone calls I had made connecting to various BBSs. Oh and DOOM dial up for multiplayer... that stuff was COOL. I love all the wonderful tech we have now, but I miss the Geek factor of the old days. Fond memories.... Thanks for the reminder

Brought back lots of memories, thanks. Nothing quite like logging on to a BBS at 300 baud.
Along these same lines, what would have been like if iTunes and the iPod had been invented back in the 70's? Actually it kinda was. A British engineer, Kane_Kramer, invented a digital music player complete with an iTunes like delivery system. It wasn't a commercial success because it could only hold 1 song (max 3.5 minutes) and at at 300 baud, it took hours to download a song. Talk about technology ahead of it's time. |

Wow that's pretty sweet
That reminds me there *are* some old emulated BBSes you can telnet to these days, and can still play L.O.R.D. and such! I say these days, but I really mean I think my last visit to one was a few years back...
