I live in a small area 5,000 people within a 25 Mile Radius Divided into like 8 small Towns.
I just been saying $25-$35. I am wanting to extend my reach were I can hit a couple real good sized Towns. Furthest Town I want to Hit is about 70 Miles Away I don't mind the commute. Hour Drive So basically I want go to a 70 Mile Radius. How do you figure what to charge when you got to go Onsite? |

Use the search function. This type of question gets asked frequently. With that said, for on-site work I charge by the hour ($90-$100) with a one hour minimum.

Wow I can't see how you can live on that sort of charging. I don't travel anymore than 10 miles for my 'free area'. The price of fuel in the UK rules out your prices.
A lot of factors go into it including price of fuel and running costs of a car. 70miles is two gallons of fuel for most cars so £14! You could end up doing just two calls a day, do the maths. |

Sure, I get cheap people all the time. The big sell is "ya, but what is your data worth, and re-buying office and other programs, getting them installed, set up the way you need it..."

Yep, no way you can charge that for the overhead a regular business pays.
I recently raised prices from $65 to $75 per hour.

Well I serve one town that's 43 Miles away in My vehicle is cost $20 round trip.
$25-$35 Service Fee is within my normal 25 mile radius. This is just for coming out. Let me explain how I charge a Little. When a customer call's depending on how far they are away I say there is a service fee of xx amount of dollars. And if you Choose me to fix it it goes towards your bill. This is what I charge to come out and find out the problem I got some people that rather try to i fix it themselves or they think I am to high. I probably make around $45-$55 a hour. But like I said I got some real Stubborn customers. Might be because I live in Arkansas. Sorry if I am not explaining very well. So you guys don't think its wise to serve past my area? |

LOL On a serious note, I am learning that I need to be as up front as possible with people (including friends and acquaintances) this way they know what to expect and there are no surprises. After I tell them what my hourly rate is then it is up to them to take it or leave it. If I were you I wouldn't worry about pleasing everyone (not saying that you are). I woudn't want those "stubborn" customers anyways.
