Default Benefits of having multiple domains

I am not great with website or SEO. As a matter of fact i am going to be contracting my SEO to one of you guys on TN once i have the funds.

What is the benefit of buying a bunch of domains. I have been reading some of the threads and noticed many users stating they have 30, 50 domains.

What are the benefit of having multiple domains?

Thank you in advanced for the answers.

I guess it depends on how you want to represent your business, and what your take on 'SEO' is, but, speaking personally, I have never seen any need to use more than one domain for computer repairs.

Alphatech:
I have to agree with 16k_zx81. There really is no reason to have more than one website.

Stating that, I have friends that have multiple domains. The reasoning behind it, is that they cater to different sub niches within their main niche. To use you as an example, based on your listed location here on the forum, you can have a domain name like orlandocomputerrepair.com. Then from there you could use orlandowhateverserviceyouoffer.com for each service you do.

There's a neat trick in SEO called a link wheel where you basically link all your websites in a certain way and it improves your overall SEO Rankings. At least that's what my friends tell me

Hope this clears it up for you some,

Guillermo
