Default tracking program for customer to see

Did some searching most of what i find is invoice software looking for a free simple program to add to site to show a customer progress of there repair.

I don't think a free program that you described exists, but PC Repair Tracker manages your workshop and allows you to do what you want - show customers specific notes that you allow them to see, see statuses, etc. If you're a member of ACRBO then I believe you get a pretty good discount

Wasn't stated in your OP.

Sometimes you've got to spend money to make money. I also worked out adding icons to that page last night. Beautiful.

At a quick glance, I don't see any option for the customers to see anything. Looks like you'd have to invite them over or put a webcam on it. Looks to be software running on your system, not web-based.
