I got the app from the website but its an .apk file and I'm not sure how to open it. I copied it to my droid phone in a folder called downloads. Can anyone help me install it from there?

tap on the apk to open the package installer.

If it won't install, you need to allow programs from Unknown Sources.

Amazon has a nice description here http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...cId=1000626391 for installing the apk for their app store app. It's the same process for all apk's.

Thanks for that altrenda. As the app is no longer available from the android market, d/l'ed it to my PC. Now I want to install it on my adroid phone but am unsure how. I started a new thread here.

First off, search the net for your type of phone, and follow the instructions how to connect it to your PC ( via USB preferably)
1) Download a program called "Computer" (a nice Windows Explorer-style app) from the Android Homepage via your cell
2) Go to http://www.davidgouveia.net/2012/01/...ndroid-market/ and download the "APK"-file ( its Altrenda's site far as i know ) and put it in some directory on your pc so you know where to locate it
3) After getting the correct procedure mentioned above ( just before step 1 ), connect your device to your pc/laptop
4) From your PC, COPY the "apk"-file to your external mobile-storage ( your SSD-card or whatever)
5) Disconnect from PC after file has been coppied
6) OPEN "Computer" ( the program you downloaded via your cell) and seek for the "apk"-file on your EXTERNAL storage of your phone...
7) Once located, click ( or enter ) on the "apk"-file in question, and it should install

...youre DONE!
