I have a Technest script and it has about 3 months left on it. I am wondering if my computers are going to stop working when my script runs out. Does anyone know? I'm hoping that at the worse, I won't be able to install new software or OS's, MAYBE not get updates.
So, does anyone know what the deal is? |

My understanding is they will stop being Genuine.

Really? My boss contacted Microsoft and they told him a renewal gets you an entirely new set of keys for each product under your subscription. So would they really unregister all those keys? Seems highly irresponsible since there's lots of server keys that could make some setups get FUBAR.
EDIT: Other forums seem to think the same way I do. They are retail keys (mostly) after all... Last edited by ajc196; 12-23-2010 at 04:30 AM. |

Keys are good until you try to activate again. But just call the 1800 number and then they give you a new working one
all automated.

To be fair though, the keys aren't licensed to be used in a production environment.

I still have working keys from when Vista was the new thing. I still use them to activate VM's and stuff.

I have been thinking on getting a subscription to technet. Do you guys feel it's worth it?

As others have said the licence does not allow that usage. It is for testing purposes only!.
