This is the strangest software issue I have encountered.
Customer has Outlook Express on their computer which has been working fine until today 2-16-08. Outlook Express gives an error that an email with *.pdf attachments do not get sent through the customers comcast account. I am able to send text files and other types just not *.pdf files. Outlook just says there is an error with no error code or hints as to what the error is. None of the settings have been changed for the comcast account. Now here is the strange part even though there is an error that the mail could not be sent the mail still gets sent which makes no sense to me. Should I just repair the outlook installation or is there something I am missing here. thank you |

Does the email arrive at its destination, intact?

Id say its either a antivirus/antispam or similar solution thats intergrated into the email on the clients PC causing the problem. Sometimes when they get corrupted they do weird things that Outlook never planned for and thus, there is no error message for. Or, its a server side issue. Comcast could be blocking them on purpose... though I dont see why they would? Try sending an email containing a PDF from the clients location, but using your own laptop and their mail settings or another PC of theirs.

As a comcast user I know this could be a block they put up but generally they will just alltogether block say port 25. I would suggest calling them and find out if there is any abuse reports on the line or blocks up on it.

All the emails arrive intact to their destination. I think Bryce has hit the nail on the head. Although we had installed Kaspersky Internet Suite V 7 a 1 week prior to the mishap something funky went on with the anti spam. I will save all of the customers emails, addresses etc and reinstall outlook express that should hopefully resovle the email attachement issue.
