Default Cordless ESD Wrist Stap - Doesn't work!

Just a little friendly FYI.

I picked up a cordless ESD wrist strap the other day from Frys because I thought it would be more convenient than the usual corded ones. The only problem is that it doesn't work. I've experienced static discharge twice today so I'm going back to the old system. Nice idea but it falls short of actually doing the job.

It always cracks me up that people buy these and expect them to work.
I will give you credit for admitting that it doesn't, even after the fact....I've heard of people that swear by them, despite having a list of reasons why they can't work.

Here's something to go with it.

I purchased it "hoping" it would work. You can't really blame me for giving it a try because if it actually did work, the benefit would have been fantastic.

Fry's will be getting it back tonight. I'm sure they'll discount it by maybe a dime and then hang it back on the wall for the next sucker.

Thanks for giving me some credit none the less

Trust me, I don't blame you! You're right, it would be nice if it were to work. It's easy to take a product at face value when you're looking at it in the store. One day something like this and those wireless extension cords will be real, though.

I used to work with a guy that wore one of those wireless esd straps every day, and he even took it off when he worked on CRTs. My co-workers and I always used to get such a laugh about how much he would defend his stupid wireless esd strap.

I remember working in auto parts we had a guy looking for sail boat fuel stabilizer and another looking for spark plugs for a diesel. I'm sure everyone knows the radiator cap for a Volkswagen gag.

The sail boat guy was surely joking, right? The spark plug guy I could actually understand if he wasn't....most people don't understand that there is even a difference between fuels.
