A lot of the secure type places in the uk do have a system where the hard drives are removed from the machines when they have finished their contracts. I worked as a systems consultant in my last job and went from Downing Street to prisons to nuclear establishments and believe me the security was extremely high regarding copiers and printers. Some of our print controllers were embedded XP so were effectively computers.

I almost got hired at the stennis space center in mississippi once. Can you beleive an investigator came to my house? It's not a big nasa center like cape canaveral or anything, but still, it's nasa. I would have been working on programming satellites.

I didn't get it though b/c I had a bankruptcy on my credit history. Apparently they worried if you need money, you might sell national secrets. LOL.

I like how these guys make sure that the hard-drives are non-recoverable.
