I was wondering how many of you guys offer offsite backup to you clients. If you do what is your methodoligy...

Do you sell enough of these to make any money, or is it just there as a service to your customers. I called Mozy and there was only a %15 discount for resellers, after your first 4 accounts. At $3.95 per account, there really is no profit.

Its really just to make sure that we are the ones giving them everything they need. The idea of sending them to another company for anything computer related just doesnt fit. We have to offer everything they want, and make sure they know it.

I think the way I am going to market this is as follows...

No Worry Backup...

For the a few extra dollars I am going to charge, I will monitor that the backups are being completed and perform any individulal file restores if needed. This might work for the businesses that are not tech savey.

Also, I was chatting with a Rep from Mozy. I asked him if they considered Branding. He said they haven't rulled it out. So, I think if enought of his hit them up maybe we can talk them into it. ;-)

I haven't been able to find any open source projects...

Correct me if I am wrong...

I think it would be a bear to maintain.. especially with companies such as Mozy being so cheap... plus liability? I hate to see the ramifications if a server was stolen with tons of finacial or hipaa data on the hard drive.


There service would be idea if we could them into private branding....

How much bandwidth would you need to host this for several customers? I also think it would be a giant headache to have the responsibility of all that data. The competition charges like what 4.00 a month?

In Ireland they charge EUR20-30 for 2GB of storage.
