Hello, I have setup a Google Places account, and I am showing up as just a dot on the map while everybody is at least given a letter that is relevant to the search. For instance, go to Google Maps and type in "Pearl Ms computer repair" I am that dot right above result C. You will have to pretty much have to get down to Street View to see my result finally turn into a "J" which is still down the list.
I have searched all over trying to figure out how I can improve my Google Places search results but I cant. Thanks in advanced for any tips! also please note-that the building that I am using as my address is building my family owns. I am actually a mobile service, but I did not want to put my home address. Last edited by SThompson86; 05-19-2010 at 12:31 PM. |

I was wondering this too. The funny thing is I just finished my first official job yesterday. When I asked the guy how he heard about my business, he said he looked up computer repair on his Android phone and saw my business was a few miles away. There are multiple places that come up for computer repair and they have the letter, where I have the same issue of just being a dot

Google Local is very much like Googles organic results, it takes time to move up the listings and relevance to the users search keywords. I now come up as number one for my local area but am way down for my city. But I know that in time I will move further up the listings. More than anything else I find that the higher my website is ranked, the higher my local search is listed, so get on with the SEO
![]() I don't know whether this is how Google decides on what position you appear in for your Local results but I have found that it works for me.

Get people to post a review for your business. Some do it themselves (blackhat SEO). I heard that helps alot.

as ATSCF posted try to get customers to leave a review on line with google local. I wasn't seen on local listings unless I searched my pc repair name. i had 4 reviews the last i check few months ago. but just yesterday i show up right right at the top of google organic search, under "local business listings" on main search page.
check the account and i had 7 reviews. have read that somewhere else to, that your address within the city makes a difference, stating that the buinesses that are right in the middle of city usually end up at the top. and i'm on the out skirts of the city. BUT it also stated customer reviews plays a role also. plus a few other factors. not sure if i had a "letter" or not, didn't check......... this article might explain some it it better: http://www.seorabbit.com/optimizing-for-google-maps and a whole bunch of info here: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=...4d3896f7b84393 www.AugustaPcRepair.com Last edited by dmurphy315; 05-21-2010 at 11:13 PM. |
