There is a free app called wifi analyzer by farproc or something like that. What it does is measures the link speed, signal levels, and channel interference. I used it at home tonight after doing some analysis at my place I found the perfect channel and place for my router to get the best signal all over my hosue. Thought this might help some of you optmize your customers networks. Best of all it is free for anybody. The only catch is you need to have a phone that runs the android os. Sorry Apple fanbois!

I use it all the time. Quick and easy way to pick an open channel.

I'm not an Apple fanboy, but there is an app by the same name that does pretty much the same thing for the iPod Touch/iPhone. Except it actually seems to give more information by letting you tap on the AP and it will give you various details like encryption type, MAC address. etc.
It also has the chart option that is displayed on the website you linked to. There is also an app called iNet for the iPhone/iPod Touch that scans the network you are connected to for devices and open ports. I don't know if there is an Android equivilent but it is a useful app. WiFi Analyzer iNet Last edited by MrUnknown; 05-15-2010 at 09:57 AM. |

Is the apple one still up? When I go to their site it says it's off the app store. http://sites.google.com/site/iphonewifianalyzer/ . I figured apple had something like this. Though it looks like the same program except for the scan sensitivity. You can get all the same information in the one I posted. Though I have so I get both of best worlds couldn't find an equivalent to inet on droid.

A lot of people seem to think jailbreaking has to do with pirating. Couldn't be farther from the truth. I jailbreak so I have more legitimate choices and have purchased a variety of apps through Cydia/Rock.
