Hello All,
I have a question and figured with all you helpful techs in 1 area i'd ask here... now i have a client who is concerned with her teens as well as her husband visiting porn sites and asked if it were possible for me to setup her PC so that any porn site attempted to be viewed will not work... i have keyloggers but this isn't really what she is looking for and i figured i could maybe use the host file but it may be too much work so now i'm asking you guys if this has ever been an issue with you ? are there any freeware good apps that will prevent porn sites from being viewed on a pc ? Thanks and any help would be appreciated |

While I have seen some programs that claim to prevent porn sites from being viewed on a pc, they are never 100%. There is almost always a workaround to these kinds of things. I would say her best bet is to BIOS password protect and windows account password protect all computers in the house then install passworded keyloggers. If anyone is caught looking at porn that person no longer has "computer rights". Thats what I had to do in my house with 2 teens. It has worked like a charm.

Try Naomi:
http://www.naomifilter.org/ WHAT IS NAOMI ? Naomi is an advanced internet filtering program, easy to use and totally free, intended for families, and kids in particular. Naomi is able to constantly monitor all internet connections, protecting children from inappropriate online material - such as obscene or violent contents; pornography, pedophilia and erotism in the form of images or texts; sites that popularize drugs; gambling games; terrorism; hate propaganda; occultism; sects; blasphemy, etc. |

You are never gunna hit 100% and then if they find a anonymous web proxy they can use then it generally will bypass any filtering.

There's no point. What happened to old fashioned parenting? Only time I ever see porn is when I'm on Anime-Forums.com

Exactly my point! Nice to see someone else who sees it like I do. You can never block all bad content from your kids eyes. Parents who buy this kind of software want it to protect their kids when its their job to protect and educate them. These same people will most likely let their child have a Myspace account and chat it up with some 40 year old pedophile, but God forbid they see boobies . You have to monitor your kids activities online, and otherwise.

Sounds like the wife from hell! I mean come on, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do! It's either that or he starts looking at her sister. As for the kids, just password protect the user account and don't leave it logged on.

You cant stop a young boy looking at porn. Although, I do believe that parents should talk to their children about sexual preadators on social networking sites and how they can gather your information bit by bit.
