Hey all,
I’ve been reading all the good articles on this website for awhile now. I’m currently a network admin for a major corp. Like many of you guys I do computer work on the side, I just recently made it more “official” I had business cards made and I’m going to start advertising more. I’ve done plenty of freebee’s in the past for coworkers, which I won’t be doing that anymore, the problem is that it’s hard to start charging my coworkers because the 2 other computer guys I work with have no problems working on a coworkers computer for nothing. Anyone else have this problem? |

I had this problem when I went back to school a few years ago. People I new around campus wanted computer repairs done, but few wanted to pay for it. The main reason for this was that I had classmates that did it for free. I never felt bad about it mainly because they almost always ended up bringing the PC back to me anyway after some green tech screwed it up even more.

I love doing one for one. Just fixed my friend computer he's a dealer, got my car fixed for free, it was going to cost a lot.
Building a web site for this contractor getting my whole siding done for free Labor of course only.

I used to do "Government Jobs" at a fortune 500 company. If they brought it in and I could fix it at work in about 10 minutes, no problem. If I had to take it home, standard rates applied.
