Wow, I can't believe how many Intels there are. I guess I have no room to talk. Mine is an Intel but as soon as the funds become available I will build an AMD machine.

Nice, are you going to use it mainly on batteries or on AC?

The upgrades I want to make
1. Change out both 256MB DDR chips for 2 x 512MB
2. Replace HDD with 120GB or higher 5400RPM
3. I have heard of changing the amount of RAM the video card uses if it uses shared RAM if so Id consider upping mine with the memory upgrade to 128MB so if you know about this let me in on the info

I want to basicly replace my desktop as it is old and dying I will later get a new desktop but Id like to upgrade the laptop to take over for a time the upgrades price out at around $300 which is low enough for me

I would also like to hear thoughts on Western Digital vs Seagate vs Hitachi

Probably a lot of both. I use will probably use it a lot in the field but also plenty at home to do paperwork and the like.

I have always had good luck with Western Digital
