Hi all,
I collected the other day an Advent 6552 which was not keeping it's date and time, and always prompting F2 after POST. Obviously this is a battery issue. I got the laptop home, removed the main battery and held the power button in for 30 seconds. I then removed the back cover to find that the battery was only just in the socket, looks like it had somehow fallen out and contact was not being made. I then simply clicked it back into place. Replaced the back cover, inserted the battery and started it up. The laptop starts to POST, and then just hangs 3\4 of the way through the progress bar. F2 and F12 are not responding, no keypress is. Looks like the BIOS is now corrupt!! Great!! I am now trying to find where I can get a BIOS from to see if I can use the rescue facility. Here are the details: Advent 6552 - model F71IL1 MB make: ECS\UniWill Any help is appreciated, I have searched into darkest places of the internet and turned up diddly squat. I really do dislike Advent. Thanks TLE |
