I built a few new systems one came back with viruses they un-installed the av and got infected i tried all of the major brand rescue disks none boot.
Kaspersky ESET AVG Bitdefender Panda Avast Norton Not one would boot guess they will need to make new rescue disks that can work with uefi bios. |

Haven't had any virus in with UEFI BIOSs, but surely you should be able to get them to boot if you set SATA to legacy?
But anyhow, for an offline scan there's nothing wrong with taking the HDD to a bench machine. |

Can you determine why a UEFI bios would not allow a DVD/CD disk to boot ?
I dont think the fact they have AV software is an issue, its not part of the booting process. ALL A/V software is application, not part of the BIOS or boot time software layers. It just doesnt make sense that UEFI BIOS would fail a DVD/CD boot just because the apps on it have virus software. Quote:

Is the HDD NTFS or FAT 32? I found this bit on info in Wikipedia
![]() OS loaders are a class of UEFI applications. As such, they are stored as files on a file system that can be accessed by the firmware. Supported file systems include FAT32, FAT16 and FAT12. Supported partition tables include MBR and GPT. UEFI does not rely on a boot sector. Maybe this helps? |

No i have tried this on 3 machines all have windows 7 home prem 64bit the disks would just not boot it no matter what the sata settings were.
I tried some strait from the retail box no scratches or finger prints maybe its because it does not support Z77 chipset i guess one was biostar Z77 the other Asus Z77. |
