I was wondering the same thing. I was actually thinking of a similar idea and was going to ask the same question and saw this thread! I was looking at liquidation.com but decided to never order anything from there...there is an auction going with a few more hours left for 17 acer refurbished lcd monitors for $100...shipping is $4000, i tried contacting them and was told if I won the bid they could re weigh it if it came out the same I would have to pay the whole $4000. They have 17 monitors listed as weighing 3502 pounds.

I suggest calling you local municipalities since the government tends to have their own in house support or at least here in the US they do. When they get rid of computers their usually about 5 years old. Not bad and they tend to just want to throw them away or sell them for dirt cheep.

Thanks for the link Nige.
I was thinking of buying non-working laptops or ex-lease ones directly that would be cheaper than from tier1. I want to try and break into the "ebay" market if poss selling 20+ per week if I can. But I need to turn a decent profit to make it worth the time, hassle and money I am going to put into it. James |

Welcome Jim. I think it could be too much hassle to get hold of the non working ebay ones, as you don't know whats wrong with them.. also considering the amount of work involved, and the costings, you could be onto a major loser here.
Would it not be easier to check the costings of some from eg tier1, against the selling prices off ebay, and see if you can make a profit that way? This way, you would still have the warranty off tier1 should anything go amiss . Rather than having to repair any hardware issues out of your own pocket..

I've just been checking the prices from tier1 vs ebay, and there might be a small profit depending on the machine your selling.

Look for liquidators and asset management/recycling companies. I made friends with one here and it has been extremely profitable for us both.
