I HATE the way they changed the search feature in Windows 7 (or did they do it in Vista). It seems that it doesn't do a thourough search, maybe because it uses indexes but I have found files that it wouldn't find in the search, like looking for *.xcf files, it would miss new files that I new were there that I had to go through folder by folder to find.
This REALLY pisses me off and I wish I knew if there was a better way to search. |

I agree. I put Ultrasearch on my own computers. http://download.cnet.com/UltraSearch...-75119707.html

I use Search Everything on my machines
tiny. 200k runs in system tray can be loaded with a hotkey (I use CRTL+1) fast

+1. Awesome little tool. Really versatile and powerful (and awfully quick)

Great, so I'm not alone in noticing that the search feature has gone to crap!? Why is this? What happened to make it not do complete searches anymore? It seems like Windows works so much better when you add a number of 3rd party apps to it which is a sad thing. Why did they remove so much with Windows 7 like File explorer/search which is kind of like a major organ?
