Sockets are nearly universal for CFL lit laptop LCDs. If it's the same size give it a try. If it works and there isn't any hardware riveted to it to prevent it from fitting your generally good to go.
If you are worried about causing harm, you're more likely to mess it up by taking it apart then you are testing the screen. It's pretty safe.
