Default Paying your employees commission

For those who have a shop or retail store, do you guys pay any sort of commission for up-sales, computers and or service packages? I am a firm believer in doing this as it give my employees incentive to basically make me more money as well as themselves. I was just wondering if anyone else who was doing this had any pointers, advice or a commission structure they would like to share.

Nothing wrong with incentive.

We have a mixture...flat salary, base salary plus 20% commish of GP (what I do myself), or 50% split for 1099 option.

1099 is 18% of whatever they do on a job in store
1099 is 60/40 split House gets 60% of course.
