Hi, been searching for manual for KTBC51G
Manufacture Site: http://www.fic.com.tw/product/mother...D/KTBC51G.aspx Gateway Site: http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERB...105553nv.shtml In both these sites and everywhere else I've seen, I haven't been able to find a user manual for the motherboard. What I need to do is disable on-board video card, Primary Video setting is non-existent within BIOS. Tried disabling within Windows. Does not detect the PCI-E card I'm trying to install. Pins on the board are difficult to decipher just looking at them.. There is a three prong set close the the PCIE slot though. No real markings except a white triangle pointing to the last prong like an arrow. Support from FIC is non-existent, I can't even ask for a manual. Any takers? |

Hopefully this motherboard is in its original case, and if so, you should look up the model number of the system.
This should help : http://support.gateway.com/support/m.../desktop.shtmlHere is where you will find all of the Gateway User Guides: http://support.gateway.com/support/manlib/index.shtml Last edited by gikstar; 07-04-2012 at 07:46 AM. |

Thanks very much for the tips.
BUT I should have been more clear and I'm sorry... It is in the original tower, I have checked through those links (which is what I was trying to get at, but completely failed to be clear) Model # GT5242E Which gets me to here: http://support.gateway.com/s/Manuals...ps/8511124.pdf Which is very basic stuff and with nothing specific about adding a video card on PCIE slot. I would also like to add that I have read a post on another forum of a guy who had correctly installed a video card successfully, but was having an entirely different no related issue. The fact that the card worked aids me to believe this task is not impossible. Also the card is just a 1gb, Geforce 210 from PNY (non powered). RGB DVI HDMI Running Win7 32bit Processor AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2.40Ghz Also I've tried to "remove" onboard Graphics card, after failed with just disabling. I'm convinced it's a jumper on the board since Primary video card option does not show up in BIOS. |

On board Controller Embedded in nVidia C51G / Add on interface 1x PCIe by 16 according to http://www.fic.com.tw/product/mother...D/KTBC51G.aspx
In otherwords, your graphics card has to run at 1x mode. VERY few will do that as they are made to run at 16X or in a pinch 8X. I have seen a few that will try to get a card to run at 4x, but 1x is just too low. I don't know of any Graphics card that will work on 1x PCIe. You might be better off with an old PCI card. Or scrap the MOBO!
I was hoping it wasn't going to come down to that, but oh well. Thank-you. |
