I think there's something else on this network acting as a DHCP server, causing the DHCP service on this SBS to fail. I ran rogue checker and it came up with something else on the network possibly causing that DHCP service to not start.

People sometimes take a wireless router and plug them into an existing network backwards (meaning LAN port towards rest of network). In an attempt to add wireless. By default the home grade routers run DHCP.
Easy to find a second DHCP service. With the servers DHCP disabled...take a workstation or laptop...and have it renew its IP address. You will see it pickup a new IP...gateway, DNS...and if you do an IPCONFIG /ALL...it will list the IP of its DHCP source. Fire up your browser..point at that IP..and you'll see the type/brand/possible model of device to go look for and flush down the toilet or stomp on it with your boots.

Here's an update, im still working on the DHCP service issue but I have fixed the email issue by increasing the infostore database size limit and remounting the infostore.
Users have access to shares, fixed that by disabling Windows Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing service, SBS Tool suggested disabling that. The DHCP service failing to start could have been unrelated to any of these problems and may have been going on for years lol. |

If it has 2x NICs....you probably have just 1 being used, right? I'm assuming you have 2x NICs since you have the firewall service and ICS that were running. Just disable the unused NIC...it's even fine to do it in network components or device mangler. That'll properly shut down unnecessary services. And often a fleet of other annoyances.

There is only one nic. All the workstations are picking up the router as the DNS server and not the SBS server. I need to change that setting on the router and I believe that will stop the IP conflict that is stopping the DHCP service.

Definitely...so go to the routers web admin page and log in and disable DHCP. Then jump start the DHCP server service..may have to authorize it. Assuming that port forwarding was done correctly on the router to allow Remote Web Workplace and/or RDP to the server...can do it from home or your office.
