Not saying all machines do it, but many can be set that way for machines that need to come back to life after a power restore but without somebody hitting a switch.

True I still wanted to give this method a shot one day when I encountered a similar situation. The last time I had anything like cooltech is describing must have been like 2003 or so. I remember it was an FIC mb.
