Default Dc socket corrosion what to do?

Hi everyone,

I've got a dell laptop in, which doesn't power from mains but works okay from battery. I've stripped it down and the separate dc socket board has a bit of corrosion after coke spillage. I'm pretty sure if I clean the corrosion it will then work but because I'm a worrier I'm concerned that issues may arise in the future. What would you do clean the small amount of corrosion and hopefully get it running or order another dc board??

I hate my indecisiveness!

Thanks

Andy

If you're worried why not replace it as you have it stripped down?

What model ? If there is corrosion on the jack itself then cleaning off corrosion won't likely fix the issue, the corrosion is metal that has been eaten away. I may be wrong but then I don't know the extent of the corrosion.

If this is a small power board, price a new one on ebay. Most of the Dell power boards are cheap.
