Default Business Insurance

Curious to what business insurance I need and if my fellow aussie mates had suggestions. I'm based in Australia , starting a mobile business.

Are there insurers that insure for data loss ? Considering the business is mobile and will have components in car and also client machines temporarily I would like insurance to cover that. Also gather need some insurance whilst in client residences incase of breakages etc.

All of the big box stores have customers sign exculpatory clauses with regard to data. These clauses make the customer agree that they should have backed up their data to begin with and the tech is not liable at all. I would also add loss of business and time to the clause. That leaves damage to the computer. No biggie. I never even had insurance for anything other than people getting injured visiting my location.

Yeah thanks for that Regedit, I only recently purchased the technibble business kit, and used the pickup and backup forms which have the written disclaimer regarding client data that I had a client sign today.

I've got most of the day free tomorrow, so I will make some calls, I imagine there must be insurers that cover liability for loss of data.

In America, for what I know, most insurers offer "Errors and Omissions" coverage as an option in addition to the standard general commercial liability. E&O covers your arse if, by your actions, client suffers financial loss due to your negligence. Examples would include data loss, though specific E&O terms and conditions may vary.

General Commercial Liability covers you if you burn down a building by plugging a computer into an outlet.
