Each time I try to run DFT (on an IBM ThinkPad x301 with solid state drive) it saying "loading DFT" but it never does. I have to physically shut off the computer. What boot CD should I be using?

Crystal Disk info says "Good", but I always like to run a more comprehensive scan.

I've seen issues with the test not working on some motherboard chipsets.
Try hooking up the drive to a bench computer and running the test from there. If the test still fails on your bench computer, I'd start to suspect the drive itself as the fault. |

I really doubt that DFT is a reliable test for any SSD. This is something I've been dreading for a while...I don't think any software is available to test SSDs in the same way we had for platter based drives. Smart data and common sense might be the only thing we can use for a while.
Yeah, I know there are tools to benchmark and "test" (Crystal disk), but I don't think they're as comprehensive as tests for older drives. Intel's SSD toolbox might be the closest I know of |

Thats why they are my preferred brand for SSD installs. Havent seen anything equivalent from any other manufacturers.

I've seen this happen in a few drives, never did figure out how to get passed it but always just moved on to another diagnostic tool to see if the hard drive was OK.

Same thing happened to me today, running HD Diagnostics on a Hitachi drive. I was able to get it to work but it took awhile.
Afterwards I ran gSmartcontrol to confirm about the drive which said it had no errors.

I hook the hdd up to my bench pc and run Gsmart, or I boot the pc in question via PXE to Parted Magic, and run gsmart from there.

I downloaded GSmartControl http://gsmartcontrol.berlios.de/home....php/Downloads
Can I just create an image file from all of the files that you unzip, and then burn a boot CD? How does this program work? |
