I have a customer that is using a couple VOIP phones. It's going through this switch.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833127325 It looks like all the switches have this "green technology" which shuts off ports that aren't being used. The problem is after so long of no activity, the phones won't work because the switch kills the port. The only work around seems to be unplugging it and plugging it back in again. I was wondering if anyone can find a cheap switch without this technology? I don't believe there is a way to disable it in the dlink from what I see. Thanks, Landon |

Yet another reason I keep cheap desktop switches out of business networks. Look for the Dell PowerConnect 28xx series. A 16-port should run about $150 or so. Not sure what the 8-port switches are running or if they're even still being made. You could also look at HP or NetGear business grade.

Agreed on all accounts.

Yeah I thought it seemed kind of cheap for what it was doing, but I didn't get it for them. I think I can get them to get something a little more business grade.
Thanks |
