As others said take a photograph of it. Although there is no legal issues with the DMCA for the OS as you're only tied to the motherboard & hard drive that it's installed on.

However, I've had success with a hot air gun and metal scraper 99% of the time. It just sometimes needs some more glue. OH! and make sure you don't leave the hot air gun on too long or else the ink will come off the sticker, that would be that other 1%

I just did the ol' razor blade trick with the chihuahua-soiled computer a client recently gave me (see my "flood damage?" post in the General Chat section). I ain't worried. I taped it inside the case, and also printed it in a bigger font for these ol' eyes and taped it underneath for the next time I have to reinstall.
