Default Would Floor Mats Prevent Static?

Would vinyl floor mats that are sometimes seen under office chairs help protect the PCs when we are working on them?
I.E. we stand on these mats while working on the computers.

They make anti-static grounding mats. PCB manufacturers use them all the time because they'd rather not wear the wrist strap.

Sorry Nick, but I would have to disagree with you (for once). I would recommend you buy a floor mat that is advertised as anti-static- not just any ol' vinyl one.

We are in Canada and I went online and could not find 'anti-static' floor mats at Staples or OfficeDepot.

That's what I meant when I said do it the right way (anti-static wrist strap, or specialized grounding mat) not a vinyl floor mat. I just didn't follow through with examples

I did a quick Google Search.
I think that a 4*2 foot anti-static bench mat is around $130 CDN and a floor mat was close to $200.
Their pricing seems sky high.
I ordered (yesterday) 2 anti-static table mats of about 2*2 feet each from Dell at a cost of around $38 including delivery.
Suggestions as to where to purchase the anti-static floor mats (in Canada) at a reasonable price would be appreciated.

Anti-static is one thing I would never want to make a deal with. It's just simply not worth the risk. I have like 3 of them from a PCB company my fathers scrap yard bought scrap from, so I don't really know where to buy them...and no I can't let them go- I have plans for them
