The laser etching seems pretty cool. Looked quickly at it, but will look more. But, from what I saw like 8K to start with. Not sure on the profit margin on something like that.
It would take some capital up front but I bet a lot of people would like to have one etched.

Just really rough idea.... Example: Say I own a laser... I would charge $25 dollars service to any authorized shops (all of you) You charge what you want to the client. (Ship the laptop or item and it gets done) again very rough idea I don't know costs of operation or anything but that is one way to do it.

Or I buy the laser.... have people send the item to get engraved... Charge $40 plus shipping. While the computer is in for "etching" it gets a free diag and an offer to repair any problems for going rate. Now that is unique...

I am probably going to check into POS systems The POS will be something new to me but I have a client who is probably going to open a retail store and I told him I would give him a deal as my first POS client.

I am also going to look into EMR software. I already have a strong Healthcare and HIPAA background and with the Governments Health Care reform this will be a strong market area in the next few years.

I purchased a 24" Vinyl Cutter for signs, So far I have done my vehicle and i make my own Yard signs. I have done some lettering for some companies and have so far made my money back for the machine! It's been a great bartering tool, everyone needs signs!

I'm looking into a wide format printer, a used one to start and a garment printer to make my own custom apparel

no one else seems to have mentioned it but we do AV installs such as:
  • Projector mounting and Projector Servicing
  • Digital Signage
  • Interactive Whiteboards
  • Audio and AV Cable looms
  • Automatic Pull down Screens
  • Plasmas and so on

We also do Data Cabling, we have Electrical contractors (NICEIC) for any electric work (minimal), PAT testing and have just started to move into CCTV..

They arn't great earners individualy but it allows us to offer these services and get repeat custom and refferals(as I like to think we do a great job ).

We Just work for Corporate and Education Customers but I'm sure there is also a market for home users for everything I've just mentioned.

We looked into this, actually we went as far as to get approved by a big-name cell phone provider, but at the last moment we pulled out.

Honestly, the profit spans were decent, and there were many incentives. The problem for me was it would require a hefty investment. You had to buy each phone - most of which would cost the dealer (you) $150-$500.

So for example if you wanted to start with 20 phones and the average price was $350 per phone, you are looking at a $7,000 investment. I preferred to put that kind of money somewhere else. If I had an extra $10,000 laying around, then I definitely would have went this route.

Umm... discount tanning while you wait for your computer?
IDK, these are weird businesses to own half of together, but hey, I applaud you.
I am curious about the insurance claims as well.
But definitely as said before a gaming cafe.
