I composed & post this not so much for my own children (in the words of Darth Vader, "it's too late for me, son") but for other children in hopes that they can see the warning signs & intervene before it's too late...
Top 10 Signs Your Dad is a Geek: ------------------------------- 10. He carries a flash drive in his pocket wherever he goes 9. He corrects you when you refer to the family computer as the "hard drive" 8. At any given time there are at least 3 partially disassembled computers sitting around the house. 7. He puts the launch date for the latest Windows operating system on the family calendar. 6. When Steve Jobs died and you said, "Who was that?" He got visibly upset. 5. He knows exactly how much bandwidth he's supposed to be getting on the household internet connection. 4. He finds it difficult to part with IT junk. 3. He goes nearly postal if you place a refrigerator magnet near the computer. 2. He posts lists like this on Facebook at 3:00 in the morning. 1. Two words: Star Wars! |

How about this one (maybe a little long for the list):
You spend time tracking analytics stats on your website - not because you're obsessed with traffic, but rather you're watching what people search for and making sure the content they are looking for is on their landing page (and if not, add it) because maybe it can help the next guy.
