I got the forms as an attachment for merchant application from Mpowa and it appears not. No mention of fees just filling out forms and sending in utility bills etc. That's what i was getting at in my email to them. It there isn't i might as well go with them.

More updates from IZettle
Hi Martyn, For now you can take MasterCard, American Express and Diners payments with iZettle. We're constantly working on making it possible to take cards from more networks, including Visa, but we don't have a set date for it just yet. Please get back to us should you have any further questions. Best regards, iZettle Support iZettle AB https://izettle.com |

I'm fairly sure mPowa when they first opened up shop the other week required you to already have a merchant account, or they would assist in getting you one, which I was fairly sure meant not through them. This may have now changed, please keep us posted, if there is no monthly fee then it does sound a good option.

Another update.
The Izettle dongle arrived and it is not as flimsy as I first thought. The Izettle dongle you slot you card in and the MPowa one you swipe the card. No merchant account required for IZettle it seems and Mpowa required quite a lot of ducumentation and scanned/photgraphed documentation i.e. passport, utility etc. I sent all the doc pictures(MPowa accept phone camera pics) off the weekend and they have just emailed their acceptance of the pics. All being equal I think Mpowa has the edge purely for Visa support now.

Martyn,
I did request that mPowa contact me regarding their merchant account via the app a few weeks ago, however I've still not heard from them. Do you mind me asking exactly what documentation they required from you etc? You can send me a private message if you prefer. Cheers, Darren |

Basically they start with a form for merchant application. Either for a Sole Trader or Limited Company. I'm a sole trader.
Your name, address, phone, email as a person and a business, passport number and place of issue. Type of business, products and services, likely amount of transactions, bank details recent utility bill, recent bank statement, evidence of your business( I sent business insurance), scan of passport photo. That's it. You can take photos of everything with your phone and email the lot, that is acceptable to them. Now I'm waiting. |

Just ordered the izettle card reader for my wife. She's going to be the guinea pig before I decide to go with them. She runs a nails and beauty biz here from home and often has the chance to upsell retail products on the spot which is useful as her clients often only have enough cash to pay for the treatment and are willing to buy aftercare products if she accepted cards.
Apparently there is a way to use VISA for payments now but it it's not as convenient. See the lower part of this page: http://help.izettle.com/customer/por...-card-payment-
