I think it's a great idea, well minus Unity. Linux generally runs lighter than Windows and this is an already fast notebook with an SSD and good amount of RAM and is light and portable.

i would be perfectly happy with a bring your own OS option, since i own a Copy of Windows 7 Ultimate Steve Ballmer Signature Edition. and let me save some money on the windows 7 home basic i would order it with only to wipe and load my copy of 7 ultimate.

No harm in offering it......although most developers I know "roll their own" distros...so they're probably strip and reload the laptop with their own customized flavor.
