Default usb external hard drive problem

Hi to all,

I have a clients Western Digital 500GB External HDD that is no longer recognized on any PC I plug it into.

I have opened the case and noticed that there are pins on either side of the usb connector (one side has 2 pins and the other has 12)

Can any one please tell me what these pins are for......

Perhaps if you posted the model number and such it would be possible to find a pdf on the thing. Possibly even a pic would be nice.

I have heard that hd manufactuers are changing the connectors on hard drives that go into external units.

Yep, I have seen this in WDs. Their connectors are COMPLETELY different in some of their external HDDs. Unless you are knowledgeable in data forensics (which no offense, I don't think you are), you will need to send it off to a company like Gillware or some other facility that specializes in data forensics.

Did you run a FULL diagnostic?

Are you tired of getting defective iPhone screens? Try eTech. We used to send back boxes of defective iPhone screens to WGP, now we rarely get them.
