My impression is that Dell's quality has really been slipping lately and I've been recommending them less and less as my brand confidence falls. At the same time I've seen recent announcements they've purchased SonicWall and Wyse and I'd be shocked if there weren't more.
Any theories on what they're up to and how it might impact us? Or am I just seeing conspiracies where there are none? |

They also purchased Equal Logics and Appasure. My Dell rep tells me they are trying to become a "one stop shop".

Well having spent more than a few years there, I know they have been driving towards cloud servers and Daas and VDI solutions for a while now. Virtualization is the big movement in the big players arena. Look at the big companies they are buying the pieces to create their menu of services, follow the lines. Infastructure that is ready on any device is the coming rage. This creates services that can be done remotely from anywhere, anytime and by anyone. Managed services from the device to the products one price per desktop or server per month.
And as to quality if you knew the supply chain process you would understand it affect all brands. Most electronic brands are nothing more that assemblers anymore. |
