Default HP Pavillion tx1200 screen, no backlight

Hello all,

I am working on a hp laptop model tx1200 pavillion. I usually don't work on monitors, but am doing this special job per request (which seems to be a very bad idea) Anyways, issue is that the screen does not light up at all. It's not the on board video card as I have already changed the motherboard for testing purposes. The question I have is how can you know if it is an inverter issue vs. any other cabling issue. This laptop is extremely hard to find and I am not able to to find any monitor replacement parts.. so, if you have any ideas please let me know!

thank you

If you can shine a flashlight on the screen and vaguely make out what it says, then chances are it is the inverter. although slim chance it could be the screen lamp. If you can not make out anything at all, chances are it is the screen.

Be sure to dissemble the laptop and order from the part number stamped on the back of screen. Never order from the laptop model. Check ebay for parts. Be careful who you order from on ebay though. I have had great results with lcdtech889. Most sellers are selling knockoff screens and they might not be compatible with your inverter.
