Default Favor from a tech located in Australia

Hola--

I live in USA but my mother lives in Brisbane, Australia.

Anyway she has a computer tech that they like a lot but I am somehow somewhat suspicious of some of the computer decisions they make.

They just got a brand new computer from this tech with the following specs:

CPU Intel i5 2400.
2GB DDR3 RAM.
500GB Serial ATA HD.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Office 2010 (not sure which edition of Office)
Samsung S20A300B monitor.

I questioned why only 2GB of RAM on this machine but I am wondering more about price.

If it is not too much bother - could someone in AU please quote me this computer? Or could you please point me to a parts vendor like Newegg, in the US, so I can put it together?

I am trying to find out what something like this would cost.

Thanks a bunch!

MSY are a long-standing national bricks and mortar parts supplier.

PCCG are a very popular online supplier
http://pccasegear.com.au

Between the two of them you should easily be able to work out the market value of the machine here.

I pay AU$23.50 + GST for a 4gb stick of DDR3-1333. This is minimum in all of our machines now. Why bother with 2 GB at that price

Your hardware list is very vague
Is it sold as a branded/non branded?
Custom system, if so -
where are the rest of the components and what brand/model/speed exactly are they?

These are the guys I and my other base employer use -
scorptec.com.au

I got as far as 2gb ddr3 and 20" monitor and didnt really need much more information to see that it was an iffy build. Even if its name-branded stuff, the composition is still pretty whacky. Hard to read the specs without thinking the buyer must not have had a clue what they were getting.

That and OP has already mentioned the purchase didnt come near to qualifying as a bargain.

2GB would actually suffice though depending on purpose, I think lack of information is valid. As we do not know what this sys is going to be used for.

OP did not state the price paid for said sys so bargain statement is invalid as well.

You could also try umart.com.au for a parts price comparo.
They are pretty decent to deal with and their prices are good, they have two premises in Brisbane.
As already mentioned - I'm not sure why you'd quote a 20" monitor and 2gb unless it was an absolute budget build.
I'm on the outer west of Bne if that's any help.
