OK, so this seems like a no brain-er but I wanna run it by you guys. I got a Toshiba laptop running vista that the keyboard has stopped working. Everything works in a live CD, everything works in bios. Get to safe mode and it does not work. My next step was to pull the battery, the ram, power cycle and replace. Still nothing. External keyboard and mouse work fine. I take the battery out and run it on AC and everything works fine. I also noticed when I put the battery back in it had a red light on the battery light. Is this just a replace the battery issue or could there be underlying issues?

Had this same issue with an Acer notebook last year. It was old so we didnt replace battery but i still wonder now what actually caused it. We even tried a fresh install on a seperate hdd. As soon as battery was out it all worked fine.

This one isn't extremely old its a Toshiba satellite p505d-s8930. The battery for this thing is quite expensive though, at about $130. The client uses it in her business and loves the thing so I think given the choice she would probably choose to replace the battery. I would just hate to advise her to buy a new battery and then the problem continue afterwards.
Anyone else have any experience with this or similar problems? |

OK, problem solved. After some further research I discovered by disabling the ACPI on the battery it functions correctly. Anyone know of any other repercussions to this besides reduced time on battery only power?
