Linux - come a long way - Still leagues to go

I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 and have been using Ubuntu since 5.06 or so. I'd say I'm at least intermediate and am pretty fluent in CL but I have to say THINGS JUST DON'T WORK like Windows! I get a free game in my Linux magazine and there are 10 different install directions depending upon the distro and even if you have the correct distro instructions then you may run into repository problems. After a few hours reading and re-reading and chipping away at failed attempts NOTHING! It is so frustrating.
