Hi all I have had to downgrade a Toshiba Satellite c655-s5504 to windows xp as my customer uses software that is not compatible with win 7. I was able to find all the drivers but audio and video. I have copied and pasted the HWID any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I got turned on to this by a local tech friend of mine and I think it's gotten me about 99.99% of the drivers I've needed. |

Thank you for your responses. My customer owns a court reporting company, the program they use for transcribing is antient and they can not justify upgrading at the moment I looked at the numbers and it was close to about $3000 per client they have 6 reporters currently. I initially installed vmware and was having issues running the program spoke to their techs and they informed me that it would not work with any vitualisation software. I will try your suggestions on monday. I again appreciate your responses.

Do you know if the software will run on a VM? If so, I'd probably recommend the customer upgrade to Windows 7 Pro so they can get a free VM license of XP Pro from Microsoft. Also, did you check Toshiba's site for the drivers? They usually have XP drivers for machines that come with Vista or Windows 7.

Driver Genius also works well.

So based on that, I agree with your first suggestion...just run XP Mode. I just did a big deployment of Fujitsu tablets at a nursing home, their eMar program is only supported in XP still (big LOL at those software developers)...until the new version they will certify for Windows 7 comes out next year (and they'll be behind again cuz Win8 will be out). But anyways...I setup XP Mode on all of them, only driver I had to install in the XP machine was for the RFID card readers for the software. There's a patch for XP Mode so that shortcuts to apps can be placed on the host operating systems desktop and launched from there...to make things easier for the end user.

Am I the only one that uses Lavalys' Everest? I hate driverpack solutions, used it 4 times and 4/4 got either bad drivers or it left over a bunch unknown devices.
I created my own driver package with the available packs for the custom WinPE builds. |
