Im doing a networking degree and I'm almost through my first year. I can honestly say I cannot do subnetting for the life of me. Can anyone explain it easily to me or give me some links to read?
Thanks. |

Everyone seems to have their own way of learning subneting but the end result is the same. Here is a beginners link to from cisco. Explains it fairly well.
Its not that hard, just takes some practice http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk36...800a67f5.shtml |

You have to read and read then do lots of tests and check why the answers are correct. I know that sounds obvious but go back and understand why. One day it sinks in and you're good to go. The good questions are the multiple choice ones that ask which hosts are on the same networks given a classless subnet address Ie select all that are on the same network given a subnet address. Then move onto ccna.

I spent a while getting the basics right until it sunk in. Plenty of exercises and tests repeated over and over till I I was getting them right all the time. Professor Messor has some good free training videos. http://www.professormesser.com/ .
Having seen how much more involved our HND networking is in the second year, you are really going to need to nail it as soon as you can. |
