Oooops, I see you already know. I was thinking about writing a c++ gui program where you could click on xp, vista, or 7, then click a button to automatically make the speedup changes. but I think you have a much better idea with your scripts, people trust scripting more, b/c they can edit the text file themselves. Also it's much easier to customize all this if it is a script, and that's not so easy to do, if it's a windows program. So now I understand why you chose to do batch scripting as opposed to writing a 'tweakme' type program.

    Hi Methical,
I noticed your scripting abilities and respect them. You are a professional. I love the way you create scripts to help people get it done faster. A few things I would think of that you might be interested in, (please forgive me if you already know about these things), are the services. You can turn services off in dos using the sc command. This could greatly speed up a machine for other uses (like while scanning it for trojans or viruses).
Anyway, I am interested in helping you create such a script, if you are interested in my helping you. My idea is to create a script that would look at the system and say are you xp, vista, or 7? and get a return from that, (probably just a scan string match from the VERSION command in a console window) then run the appropriate scripts based on the type of o/s it is. What do you think?

Minor update to the HW info script.

Run it now and it will create a HTML table. Right now as an example it puts a css file into there so you can see what it *could* look like, but that will come out for the final release, because we'll want all the reports to look the same.

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O3X5X5VS
unzip both files to the same folder. it will create a new file called Systeminfo.htm

As I've said, there's a LOT of info here. and some of it is very useful.
just flicking through the report we can grab

    Windows Version 5 = XP, 6 = Vista, 7 = 7...
    Computer Name
    System Manufacturer & Model
    System Serial Number

    and loads more
