I paid almost $300 for my 6000 a couple of years ago. Anyway, if you all want to upgrade your AM2 systems or have customers who want to, this is a fantastic chip. At $80, you can't beat the price. It's still not as fast as a midrange Core 2 Duo, but I manage to play any game I want on it without problem (when I have time).

My sympathies to your wallet. One thing I do like about the AMD series is the ability to upgrade the CPU without needing a new motherboard and different socket. (are you reading this, Intel?)

True, but all AM* series are good to go in the same socket. Side note, I have 2 socket 939 machines still going strong, though i don't use them as much anymore.

Then the same can be said for all 775 series chips. But its not entirely true.
I mean you cant put 462, 754, 939 in an AM2/2+/3 slot so whats the point. You wouldnt want to put an AM2 in an am3 board either, due to DD3.
Not sure what the point of your "the AMD series is the ability to upgrade the CPU without needing a new motherboard and different socket" post is.

I hope my sarcasm wasn't missed in my post.
I really need to build a new PC, but this one is going strong for me. Does everything I need and I have definately gotten my money out of it. I think it is more that I want to build a new computer =]
