Has anybody set up a FaceBook page for their business? Have you gotten any leads or business from it?

Has anybody done any PPC advertising on FaceBook? If so, how did it work for you and how expensive was it?

We have a page and we have done PPC advertising. I budgeted in $50 per week. I don't know if that's low or high for most people....but we got two customers in the first week I ran the ad.
I stopped running it because it didn't seem to be targeting the geographical area that I set up. I was getting clicks from all over the country when all I set up was my local area.

That would more than pay for the $50.00 per week.

Interesting. How long ago was this? And could you provide a link to your page?

@ACG, I just became a fan. ;-)

I did it about a year, maybe a year and a half ago.

Yeah, the two customers easily paid for the ad. I've been meaning to make a new ad for this new school year (we're next to a large university) and give it another go. I just didn't want it to get out of hand with the strange clicks from other places..... The majority WERE from here, but I think at least a quarter of them were from outside the state.

Sweet, Thanks Tim! We are also on twitter, although I have yet to get serious with it www.twitter.com/acgny

Yeah, I saw that... You got into Twitter after I was getting out but I followed you anyway.

I set up a fan page just the other day, and it's already brought in 3 new leads without buying the advertising. I may do that in a while after I get it completely set up. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Herrin-IL/The-Computer-Doctor/146275024200?ref=nf

edit: @ACG I just became a fan of your page too.

Nice, why are you leaving twitter?

It wasn't really an intentional split. I just haven't been putting the same amount time and energy into it, probably because it hasn't paid off for me. But I realized that I needed to change directions and that is when I moved away. I just never made the directional switch.

I was also considering doing the same.

Really can't hurt I guess. It is free advertising.

I re-enabled my PPC facebook ad after this thread was started. Here's what I'm looking at so far:

I set $10 per day maximum, 80 cents maximum per click. The ad is only set to display to users in the local area, by city. The ad has had 60,000 impressions since earlier today when I started it. I've had 12 clicks and it's cost me an average of 72 cents per click, for a total of $8.66 so far.

Checking in on Google analytics, one of those clicks is supposedly from out of state. The rest are in the area. Bounce rates are all 100%, and they're only looking at my front page.

Infer what you will from the numbers and everything. I'm sure my click through rate is lower than it could be...maybe not...I don't know. As long as the majority of the impressions are local, I'll keep it running for a bit longer.

I've also had some success with Facebook advertising. I'm averaging 2 remote sessions a month for the past three months although this month I've had zip :(

Ok, so those of you who DO use the PPC, do you have a FaceBook specific landing page or do they just go to your main page? Have you found that any 1 type of offer works better than another?

On my PPC ad I advertised 10% off any remote service if you become a fan. This actually got me quite a few fans. I just changed my page though from a fan page to a group page.

I used facebook ads for a while, but they didn't really get me any business, so I quit using them. I may have to refine my tactics if I were to use them again.

I havent really had too much luck with Facebook ads. I was having the same problem as most of you guys that the clicks just dont return to a sale. Maybe my picture and text choice just didn't look/sound good enough.

After reading this and checking out your Facebook page I figured I would give it a try. I just started one today, and well right now its just me and a few friends to make it look populated. Once I send out a newsletter stating that I have it people will join up. I also added a link on my website.

I am going to use it to post specials to my residential clients. I think if I do like back to school specials, holiday themed, and other things like that I could get a few sales from it. It didn't take too much time to set up or manage so I will give it a try for a few months and see how it works out.

I ran a ppc add linking to my website for a few weeks on facebook, I ended up spending about 45 dollars over about a month. With 80 clicks, at .25-.50 per click, and about 129,000 impressions. So the clicks were there, but i never received a single call from it. Now granted I didn't spend much.
I was in contact with another local business in my area, and he was speculating that facebook advertising was an "iffy" source. We both noticed a decent amount of clicks, but those clicks were supposed to be leading to my website, and i never saw website traffic on my end. They even refunded some of my money because they were having problems with that exact thing. So I stopped advertising with them until they fix there broken system.
