When I come across problems with XP, I tend to google the error and I'd say 80% of the time I can fix it with the advice given from google, be it from forums that come up, or from the official microsoft site.

Hello CalculationUpload

Here are some good sites:

Technibble Articles Obviously comes first!!! ;) (http://www.technibble.com/categories/on-the-job/)

Basic Troubleshooting (http://www.computerhope.com/basic.htm)
A-Z of XP Problems (http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm)
11 Ways to Become an Outstanding Computer Technician (http://www.tweak3d.net/joomla/tutorials/hardware-repair/11-ways-to-become-an-outstanding-computer-technician)
Windows XP How to Centre (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/solutionaccelerators/howto/winxphow.mspx)

Theres some nice reading to get you started! Its good to read about it but you need to put it into practice aswell.

If you can get an older pc just plug it into the internet unprotected(no antivirus software etc) and leave it for a few days or go on a few dodgy websites let it pick up some spyware and viruses. Then try to clean the PC its the best way to learn.

You can also open an old pc and ask a friend to take the case off and pull cables out and move things around, then try to put it back together.

If you want to know anything specific just ask......

My advice: get an older system on the cheap, at least a p4 and 512 megs of RAM. Find a windows xp disc. Next do anything you want to to this system, take it appart, put it together, run any programs you want to try. If anything goes wrong wipe it and reinstall, as one member put it if you have any questions google it, chances are really good if you have a problem someone else on the planet has had that same problem.
